This painting was featured on I Love Seascape.
I stopped by the beach on a nice day in winter to take a few pictures and enjoy the warmth. The temperature was around 75. I was struck by the different shades of grey and lack of color except for the small amount of blue sky that was showing though the clouds. Later I decided to paint this off of the photos I had taken and the memory of the day.
I grew up in Ventura, California where I spent most of my time at the beach. I was a lifeguard for 13 years on the beaches of Ventura and Carpinteria. I've always been attracted to the water and the beauty of nature. I've been an amateur photographer for many years. A few years ago, I moved to the Portland, Oregon area with my wife and kids and it was there that I was inspired to begin painting. Currently we live in the Ventura area and I continue to paint.
